International specialized literature defines ULTRASONIC MEGALIPOPLASTY as the taking away of, in a unique operational procedure, a quantity of adipose tissue, over 10lt. The elimination of such a quantity, a target which is routinely achieved by Prof. Zocchi’s team (more than 500 patients operated) allows them to obtain in a shorter space of time radical morphological and functional changes to the point of being commonly known by the term “metamorphosis operation”.

This technique, today constitutes the most modern and innovative evolution of traditional
liposuction and allows selective emulsification of only the adipose tissue which is removed through low intensity suction.
Ultrasonic methodology, when rigorously carried out, using the most innovative instrumentation is absolutely safe and reliable when following all anticipated technical regulations, and does not provoke undesired effects to the vascular arterial structures or veins, nervous and lymphatic and above all to the level of nearby connective tissues.

This selectivity, which by now has been well tested in many international operations, allows a much more radical approach, circumferential and artistic to the lipodistrophy, which can be treated even in the anatomical areas that are traditionally difficult like the internal face, external lower limbs and to the arms or in secondary cases. The biggest advantage, however, is certainly represented by the possibility of removing extremely large quantities of adipose tissue with a much safer and faster post-operational recovery.

Fifteen years of experience using this method on over 3000 patients with a progressive increase of the quantity of adipose tissue removed in one session, has furthermore allowed Prof. Zocchi, the inventor, to divulge and communicate at an international level these techniques, which have extended the treatment of extreme obesity.
In fact the immediate alteration of body mass composition in a very reduced space of time as a result of these operations, has allowed him to highlight the correlation between the important reduction of percentage of adipose tissue and other haematic and metabolic parameters, fundamental in the treatment of the overweight and of extreme obesity.

For this reason, the types of patients treated by Prof. Zocchi have radically changed over the years. From small and medium lipodistrophies with a cosmetic purpose to huge body remodelling “total body” in markedly overweight or even obese patients with the removal of enormous quantities of adipose tissue (up to 30 litres in one single session).

It is furthermore important to note that more than 50% of the patients treated by Prof. Zocchi constitute secondary cases, those who have more than once undergone classic liposuction without any results, sent by other plastic surgeons and specialized institutes from all over the world.
